As my time at Xavier comes to an end I'm feeling a range of emotions. I'm excited, anxious, overwhelmed (just to name a few). I cannot believe how quickly four years has gone by and that I am finally about to begin the next chapter of my life. I also cannot believe all of the things I have accomplished while studying in Xavier's Mass Communication department. Seeing my work published has been the highlight of my time here thus far.
While in New Orleans I have had the opportunity to meet several amazing people, immerse myself in the rich culture of this city, and try a host of new things. I've also gained a sense of independence I know I would not have had I went to college in Boston. I've become better at advocating for myself as well as being more accountable and responsible. Moving to a new city alone has truly allowed me to find a way or make one. However, I have not been able to do this alone. With the help of amazing professors I have become more knowledgable on many subjects. My friends and family have been an amazing support system with their unwavering love. And faith, has also been a major key throughout my time here. People often ask me why I have such a different approach to school and things of the sort I attribute this one to ability to handle stress well and the fact that I have faith in both God and myself. College has been all about balance and honestly enjoying my time in such a beautiful city. I'm grateful to have had opportunities to work with programs and sites like Saint Heron and the Google CLP. I'm looking forward to my very bright future and all of the new opportunities I'll have.
